Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar, has underscored the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable industrial growth and supporting the business community. This pledge was made during a meeting with a delegation from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, led by its President, Atif Ikram Sheikh.
The discussions centered around the newly formulated Industrial Policy and the challenges faced by the business sector. The delegation extended its congratulations to Haroon Akhtar on the successful creation of the policy.
To ensure the effective implementation of the Industrial Policy, Haroon Akhtar announced the formation of a committee comprising all stakeholders. Additionally, eight sub-committees have been set up to advance infrastructure development under the policy.
Key reforms highlighted during the meeting included a proposed Bankruptcy Law. This law aims to provide debtors with a one-year grace period for fulfilling repayment obligations, signaling a significant shift in addressing financial challenges within the industry.
The meeting reflects the government’s ongoing efforts to create a conducive environment for industrial growth, with a focus on sustainability and support for the business community.
