Riyad, In a pivotal meeting at the Global Labour Market Conference (GLMC) in Riyadh, Mr. Jawad Sohrab Malik, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, engaged in productive discussions with Mr. Gilbert Houngbo, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The dialogue focused on enhancing the skills and employability of the Pakistani workforce through alignment with ILO’s global standards and initiatives.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting underscored the necessity of integrating Pakistan’s workforce development strategies with international best practices. Both Mr. Malik and Mr. Houngbo acknowledged the critical role of adapting national policies to global standards, aiming to ensure the welfare and prosperity of the workforce.
Mr. Houngbo, the ILO Director-General, called for global support in creating employment opportunities for Pakistani youth. Highlighting Pakistan’s demographic advantage, he emphasized the urgency of leveraging the youth population’s potential and providing them with quality job prospects. In response, SAPM Jawad Sohrab Malik reaffirmed the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to closely collaborate with the ILO. He outlined the government’s goal to foster a supportive environment for sustainable economic growth, benefiting the Pakistani workforce.
