SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan Urges Strategic Overhaul for Pakistan’s Marble Sector

Islamabad: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, emphasized the need for a comprehensive strategy to enhance the quality and export potential of Pakistan’s marble industry during a meeting with the Pakistan Stone Development Company (PASDEC) in Islamabad.

The meeting centered on aligning Pakistan’s marble products with international standards, such as those set by Italy, to strengthen the country’s economic standing through increased exports. Khan noted that the marble sector, with its significant untapped potential, could play a pivotal role in boosting foreign exchange earnings.

Khan highlighted that the government’s commitment to upgrading marble quality would not only elevate export figures but also create substantial job opportunities nationwide. He stressed the importance of embracing modern technology and innovative production techniques to enhance both quality and efficiency.

In his closing remarks, Khan instructed PASDEC to devise a detailed plan within a week focusing on improving quality, productivity, and the global competitiveness of the marble industry in Pakistan.
