SAPM Haroon Akhtar Khan Leads Talks on Insulin Production with Russia

Islamabad: A high-level meeting convened by the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) was chaired by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Mr. Haroon Akhtar Khan, focusing on a potential collaboration with Russia for insulin production.

The meeting saw participation from Mr. Denis Nazarov, a representative of the Russian Government, as well as Secretary Industries and Production Mr. Saif Anjum, alongside senior officials from DRAP.

Discussions centered around setting up local insulin manufacturing facilities in Pakistan through a joint project with Russia. This initiative aims to enhance bilateral relations and foster foreign investment.

Mr. Khan emphasized that the project, under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, would involve phased insulin production, with bulk production and technology transfer anticipated within three years. The venture is expected to open new avenues for business cooperation and improve access to essential medicines in Pakistan.

The success of the project, Mr. Khan noted, would depend on strict compliance from partner companies to ensure effective implementation.
