BEIJING, In an effort to fortify collaboration in the mineral sector, Chairman Senate Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani met with a delegation from the China Metallurgical Group Corporation (MCC) in Beijing. The meeting emphasized the pivotal role of mineral resources in Pakistan’s economic growth and highlighted MCC’s significant contributions to the nation.

According to a new release by the Senate of Pakistan, the meeting covered a broad spectrum of topics, all centered on mutual interests and the importance of the mineral sector. Chairman Senate Sanjrani expressed gratitude for MCC’s work in Pakistan, particularly spotlighting their transformative role in the Duddar project, which has become a thriving initiative benefiting the local community.

In a gesture of continued collaboration, Chairman Sanjrani invited the MCC team to Pakistan, highlighting the significance of their involvement in the nation’s economic progress. He also expressed eagerness about a prospective project in Chagai, expected to operate within an Export Processing Zone (EPZ). The Chairman drew parallels between the anticipated success of this project and the achievements of the Reko Diq initiative, both crucial to the country’s financial uplift.

To mark the commencement of this Chagai venture, Sanjrani announced his intention to extend invitations to prominent officials, including representatives from SIFC and the MCC Chief, for the grand inauguration.

The MCC delegation responded with enthusiasm, reaffirming their commitment to investing in Pakistan, especially focusing on regions like Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They proposed the inception of an EPZ specifically tailored for metal mining, which aims to spur innovation and growth in the sector. Additionally, MCC put forth the idea of establishing a mineral-based industrial park within Pakistan, reflecting their dedication to sustainable development and reinforcing the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
