Saghar Commemorates Gilani on Third Martyrdom Anniversary, Vows to Continue Kashmir Freedom Struggle


Islamabad: On the third anniversary of the death of Syed Ali Gilani, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, the Acting Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, reiterated his commitment to the Kashmiri freedom struggle and honored Gilani’s lifelong dedication to the cause. Saghar described Gilani as a pivotal figure in the movement against Indian rule and a symbol of resistance whose influence remains a guiding light for future generations.



According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, in a statement issued in Islamabad, marked the third martyrdom anniversary of Syed Ali Gilani by highlighting the significant political void left by his passing. “Gilani was the symbol of resistance against oppression,” Saghar stated, emphasizing the enduring legacy left by Gilani that would inspire future generations.



Saghar reflected on the hardships endured by Gilani, noting that despite years of trials and tribulations, Gilani’s resolve in the pursuit of freedom never wavered. “Years’ long trials and tribulations could not deter him (Gilani) from pursuing the collective cause of freedom,” he said. Saghar detailed how Gilani faced numerous challenges with bravery, standing firm against Indian oppression throughout his life.



Further, Saghar commemorated Gilani’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmiri freedom movement and the rights of its people, acknowledging that Gilani remained steadfast to his ideology until his last breath. He also pointed out that Gilani, a former chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), spent a significant portion of his life in imprisonment and detention, yet his spirit and passion for Kashmir’s freedom remained unbroken.



Concluding his tribute, Saghar vowed to uphold Gilani’s mission and continue the struggle for the right to self-determination. He affirmed that the efforts to achieve freedom from Indian occupation would persist until the people of Kashmir realize their long-sought goal of autonomy.
