Russian Embassy Denounces False Allegations in Roznama Jasarat Article

Islamabad, The Russian Embassy has formally addressed and refuted allegations made in a Roznama Jasarat article published on February 17, 2024, which speculated on Russia’s intentions to recruit Pakistani students for military operations under the guise of scholarships. The article titled ‘Plan to throw Pakistani students into the war in Russia and Ukraine in the name of scholarship’ presented claims without substantiation, suggesting that students were being enticed to Russia with scholarships for the purpose of joining a “private army”.

According to Embassy of The Russian Federation, the article is a product of careless journalism, characterized by unfounded speculations and a lack of factual support. The embassy clarified that the allegations of recruiting Pakistani citizens for any military activities are entirely baseless and untrue. It further highlighted the absurdity of the accusations, noting the embassy’s non-involvement in educational activities such as providing Russian language training, which contradicts the claims made.

The Russian Embassy expressed its strong rejection of these allegations, emphasizing that Russia has neither had plans nor intends to recruit Pakistani students. This stance is aimed at dispelling the misconceptions and misinformation presented in the Roznama Jasarat publication. The embassy regards the article as a deliberate attempt at spreading fake news, which stands in stark contrast to the existing friendly relations and high level of cooperation between Russia and Pakistan.

In light of maintaining the cordial ties between the two nations, the Russian Embassy has requested Roznama Jasarat to publish its response in both its print and electronic editions to clarify Russia’s position to the Pakistani audience. The embassy affirmed its openness to engaging with Roznama Jasarat and other Pakistani media outlets, offering assistance to ensure unbiased and accurate reporting on matters related to Russia.
