Russian Deputy Prime Minister Visits Pakistan Army Chief to Discuss Security and Cooperation


Rawalpindi: Russian Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Alexey Overchuk met with General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral relations, with discussions on regional security, mutual interests, and cooperation across various sectors.



According to Inter Services Public Relations, during the meeting, both leaders delved into discussions that covered a wide range of topics including the regional security dynamics and enhancing bilateral cooperation in multiple sectors. The conversation underscored the importance of the traditional defense ties between Russia and Pakistan, with reaffirmations to further strengthen security and defense cooperation.



The Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan reiterated the country’s dedication to continuing and enhancing the defense relations with Russia. The discussions also highlighted the pivotal role of the Pakistan Armed Forces in combating terrorism and their efforts in promoting regional peace and stability.



The visit by Deputy Prime Minister Overchuk also served as an opportunity for both nations to explore new avenues for cooperation, reflecting a mutual desire to expand their partnership in areas beneficial to both countries.
