Islamabad, On the tenth anniversary of the uprising in Ukraine, Russian Ambassador to Pakistan, Albert Khorev, provided an extensive briefing to the Pakistani media on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The briefing, held at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad, also featured a photo exhibition and a documentary about the outcomes of the Euromaidan protests.
According to Embassy of The Russian Federation, Ambassador Khorev used this occasion to reflect on the events of February 2014, which he described as an unconstitutional uprising aimed at ousting the legally elected President Viktor Yanukovych. He criticized the West’s role in encouraging the protests, which he argued led to the current state of conflict by pushing Ukraine away from Russia.
Khorev detailed the efforts by Russia to address the crisis through peaceful means, including the signing of the Minsk Agreements in 2015, aimed at resolving the conflict in eastern Ukraine diplomatically. He lamented the subsequent militarization of Ukraine by Western countries, which he claimed turned Ukraine into a battleground against Russia.
The Ambassador also addressed the issue of misinformation against Russian peacekeeping efforts and highlighted the legal victories Russia has achieved in international courts, which he said vindicated Russia’s stance in the conflict. He condemned the Ukrainian government’s actions, including attacks on civilian facilities in Russia, and criticized the West’s continued support of Ukraine through arms supplies, which he argued only exacerbates the conflict.
Khorev also spoke against the narrative surrounding the alleged deportation of Ukrainian children by Russia, accusing Western countries of hypocrisy and of ignoring the plight of children affected by the conflict in Donbass and Russian border areas.
The briefing concluded with a call for unbiased reporting on the Ukraine situation, emphasizing the availability of information sources beyond Western media. The Ambassador reiterated Russia’s objectives in Ukraine, including demilitarization and the removal of what he termed as Nazi ideology, while asserting the successes of Russian military operations in the region.
Islamabad, In a significant crackdown against criminal activities, the Islamabad Capital Police’s Anti Robbery and Dacoity Unit (ARDU) has successfully apprehended six wanted members of a notorious bike lifter gang. This operation led to the recovery of six stolen motorbikes, various spare parts, and weapons, marking a major victory in the ongoing battle against crime in the city.
According to Islamabad Capital Police, the operation was carried out under the special instructions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, who has been spearheading efforts to rid the city of criminal elements. The arrested individuals, identified as Adil, Waseem, Yaseen, Baz Muhammad, Afaq Ali, and Saad Khan, were involved in multiple bike lifting incidents across various areas of Islamabad.
The successful apprehension of these suspects was achieved through the effective use of technical and human intelligence resources by the ARDU team. In addition to the stolen motorbikes, the police also seized two pistols that were used by the gang in their criminal endeavors. Cases have been registered against the accused, and further investigations are underway to uncover any additional activities they may have been involved in.
ICCPO Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has issued directives to all senior officials to intensify the crackdown on individuals involved in criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and security of the lives and property of the citizens as a top priority.
