Karachi, In a significant diplomatic meeting, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Russia met with his Egyptian counterpart, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, during the 6th session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum in Marrakech. The meeting, characterized by an in-depth exchange on various regional conflicts, particularly highlighted the urgent situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, with a specific focus on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
According to Embassy of the Russian Federation, Lavrov expressed his gratitude towards Egypt for assisting in the safe evacuation of Russian citizens from Gaza. He stressed the necessity of initiating a ceasefire in the region and commencing negotiations under international law and United Nations resolutions. The aim of these efforts is to peacefully resolve the longstanding conflict, ensuring the realization of the Palestinian people’s right to a sovereign state within the 1967 borders.
The discussion between the ministers also covered other regional crises and conflicts, including those in Yemen, Libya, Syria, and Lebanon. This indicates a broader engagement and concern of both nations regarding stability in the Middle East.
