RSS-BJP regime complicit in attacks on journalists, hate meetings: Dr Bajpai

New Delhi, April 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):Janhastakshep, a movement against fascism, strongly condemned the brazen attack on journalists who were covering the ‘Hindu Mahapanchayat’ that had been organized by the ‘Save India Foundation’ at Burari grounds of New Delhi without the police permission.

The group said that the so-called ‘Mahapanchayat’ was not the handiwork of some fringe elements but it had been organized with full support of the RSS-BJP government. In a statement, Dr Vikas Bajpai, Convener Janhastakshep, said the so-called ‘Mahapanchayat’ had been organized despite the permission to do so had been declined by the police.

Coming down heavily on controversial priest Yati Narsinghanand, Dr Bajpai said, “The brazenness of the whole program is evident from the fact that Yati Narsinghanand, who had earlier exhorted for genocide of the Muslims at the so-called ‘Dharm Sansad’ organized at Haridwar from 17 to 19 December 2021, once again spewed venom against the largest religious minority of the country. He did so despite the fact that he is currently on bail in the case filed regarding hate speech at Haridwar”.

He also accused the RSS – BJP government of extending support to such meetings meant to spread hate in the country. “It is amply evident from these facts that such meetings which have become all too frequent and increasingly brazen with the administration simply choosing to look the other way, are actually being organized with full support of the RSS-BJP government using the might of the state machinery, rather than being the handiwork of some fringe elements”.

“The attack on journalists is but a part of the efforts of the Hindutva goons to silence any criticism of such criminal acts in any section of the media. Examples are now being set to show how any journalist who simply does her/his duty by truthfully reporting the events organized by the Sangh Parivar outlets shall be dealt with lest she earns the displeasure of these goons,” he added.

He appealed to the various sections of the civil society, mass organizations of youth, women, students and journalists, and the political parties that they should vociferously protest these attacks on our democratic rights if we are to remain a civilized society or any measure.
