Romina Stresses Parliamentarians’ Role in Advancing Gender Equality and Green Economy

Islamabad: During a press conference today, Romina Khurshid Alam, Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, emphasized the critical role of parliamentarians in promoting gender equality and advancing green economy initiatives.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the press event was held ahead of the two-day Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development, focusing on ‘Gender Empowerment and Green Economy’. Alam discussed the intertwined global crises—from food insecurity to economic challenges—and the essential part gender equality plays in addressing these issues. She outlined the conference’s goals to enhance understanding of how climate change impacts women differently and to discuss their vulnerabilities and strengths in the green economy.

The upcoming meeting will feature over twenty parliamentarians from member countries of the Asian Forum of Parliamentarians on Population and Development, highlighting Pakistan’s proactive stance on climate action, gender equality, and green economic policies.
