Lahore, March 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said here on Wednesday that all 16 nursing colleges of Punjab have been affiliated with medical universities and their longstanding promotion issue to grade 18 has been resolved. Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar was the special guest of Punjab Nursing Convention 2022. Speaking at the Convention the Minister paid rich tribute to nurses serving in public sector hospitals.
The Punjab Nursing Convention 2022 was attended by Special Assistant to Chief Minister Hassan Khawar, Health Secretaries Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi, Imran Sikandar Baloch, Vice Chancellors, DG Nursing, Special Secretaries Health, Additional Secretaries and a large number of nurses. The Health Minister said, “We have come here to pay tribute to the services of nurses. The credit for improving the condition of nurses goes to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
We have made record promotions of nurses. The services of our nurses during Corona Pandemic were exemplary. A doctor is referred to as a messiah. BSc Midwifery Program for Nurses has been launched. For the first time in history, the health department has recruited more than 500 male nurses.
A nursing college has been set up in Shahdara for male nursing students. Professional training of nurses is being conducted through master trainers. Nurse’s promotion structure has been revised and upgraded to grade 18 as it was their long-standing demand. Nurses play a pivotal role in ensuring treatment of patients in government hospitals. Patient forgets half of his ailment by good behaviour of the nurses. Nurses are dedicated to the service to humanity in public sector hospitals.
The Public Health Nursing Schools of Lahore and Chakwal have been upgraded for training of midwifery graduates. As per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the nurses have been divided into two medical and administrative cadres. The amount of stipend for nurses studying in nursing colleges has been increased from 21000 to 31000.
As many as 16 Nursing Colleges have been affiliated with Medical Universities. We are working on professional Capacity building of nursing teachers in collaboration with Aga Khan School of Nursing. According to the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, government hospitals in Punjab are being upgraded. A significant amount of Rs. 400 billion has been allocated for the provision of Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Cards to all 30 million families in Punjab.
Ten state-of-the-art mother and child hospitals are being set up in Punjab. All 44 nursing schools in Punjab have been upgraded to nursing colleges. As many as 23 new government hospitals are being built to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of Punjab.
