Jammu: Sandeep Singh Rissam, Chairman of the Congress Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), has vocally criticized the current administration for neglecting the essential needs of the region, such as roads and electricity, and called for the restoration of its statehood.
According to Kashmir Media Service, during an outreach meeting in Jammu, Rissam argued for the reinstatement of statehood to empower local elected representatives, who he claims have been rendered powerless under Prime Minister Modi’s government. He highlighted the adverse impact of these policies on local governance and the increasing unemployment, which he attributed to government neglect.
Rissam reiterated the demand that statehood be restored before any future assembly elections to ensure that local governance can effectively address the needs and rights of its citizens.
