Islamabad, January 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Convener of the Pak-Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Group (PFG), Mr. Lal Chand, MNA, alongwith the members of the Executive Committee of Pak-Sri Lanka PFG were briefed by the Ministry of Commerce today the 13th January, 2022 at 1300 hours in Parliament House, Islamabad.
The Convener of Pakistan-Sri Lanka PFG said that the two countries shared commonality of views on a wide range of international and regional issues, as well as extending support to each other during difficult times. He emphasized the need to elevate bilateral trade and overall economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Convener also mentioned that Parliamentary Friendship Groups of both countries could play a pivotal role in promoting parliamentary diplomacy, people to people contacts and promoting parliamentary relations through fostering parliamentary exchanges. He assured that existing bilateral relations between two countries will strengthen further through mutual cooperation and understanding.
Ms. Ghazala Saifi , MNA and Parliamentary Secretary on National Heritage and Culture Division, Ms. Kishwar Zehra, Chairperson Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat and Dr. Shazia Sobia Aslam Soomro, MNA, attended the briefing session and emphasized to explore new avenues of cooperation in various areas of mutual interest including culture, agriculture, trade, education, textile, and pharmaceuticals.
It was unanimously decided to meet the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Islamabad to express their deep concern on act of brutal assassination of Priyantha Diyawadana who was lynched in Sialkot in a horrific attack.
