Review Petition Filed in Indian Supreme Court Challenging Article 370 Decision

Srinagar, In a significant legal move, a review petition has been filed in the Indian Supreme Court against its recent ruling that upheld the abrogation of Article 370. This article had previously granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir, a region under New Delhi’s control.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Muzaffar Iqbal Khan, one of the original petitioners in the Article 370 case, has submitted the review petition to India’s apex court. Khan, who confirmed the submission of the petition to the media on Wednesday, is challenging the decision of the Supreme Court’s 5-judge Constitution Bench. This bench, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, had upheld the controversial abrogation of Article 370 by the President of India in August 2019.

The filing of this review petition marks a continuing legal challenge to the Indian government’s decision regarding Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. The decision to abrogate Article 370 has been a topic of heated debate and controversy, sparking widespread discussions about its legal and constitutional implications.

This move to seek a review of the Supreme Court’s decision reflects the ongoing dispute over the status of Jammu and Kashmir and the legal battles surrounding it.
