Reveals Low Incidence of Marital Disputes in Pakistan

Islamabad: According to a recent Gallup and Gilani Pakistan survey, only 18% of married Pakistanis reported having a disagreement with their spouse in the past week. The survey highlights that domestic disagreements are more frequently reported among women and individuals with lower educational backgrounds.

The survey is part of an ongoing series by Gallup Pakistan focusing on ‘Marriage and Domestic Harmony in Pakistan.’

A representative sample of married individuals from various regions of the country was asked if they had experienced a fight with their spouse over the past week. The majority, 82%, reported no such incidents.

The findings suggest that most Pakistani couples maintain harmonious domestic relationships, with minor disputes being a normal aspect of married life. The data offers a generally positive outlook on family harmony nationwide.

Conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the survey involved 579 married men and women from both urban and rural areas across Pakistan’s four provinces. The survey was carried out from September 12 to September 23, 2025, using telephonic interviews. The results have a margin of error of approximately ± 2-3 percent at a 95% confidence level.
