Srinagar: Security measures in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been intensified in anticipation of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah’s upcoming visit. Authorities have established numerous checkpoints and initiated surprise checking drives throughout the Kashmir valley, as reported by Kashmir Media Service.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, recently led a joint security meeting with senior officials from the Police, Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, and intelligence agencies. The meeting aimed to assess and bolster security measures ahead of Shah’s visit to the region.

The gathering included high-ranking officials such as the IG BSF, IG CRPF (KOS), IG CRPF Srinagar, DIG CKR Srinagar, and several others. Discussions focused on enhancing alertness to counter potential threats, improving intelligence gathering, and reinforcing security in vulnerable areas.

IGP Kashmir underscored the importance of securing critical infrastructure and implementing specific measures to protect vital assets. There is an increased police presence across the valley, with personnel conducting identity verifications and vehicle inspections.

While some Kashmiris express concerns that Shah’s visit may lead to efforts to disenfranchise them, analysts suggest the visit aims to portray the local freedom movement as terrorism orchestrated by Pakistan, in an effort to gain international support.
