Srinagar, June 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):Authorities in Indian-illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have intensified restrictions in Jammu region and on Srinagar-Jammu highway in the name of security for the Amarnath Yatra, which will begin later this month.
Frisking and body-search besides vehicular checking have made the life of commuters a hell in Jammu, Adhampur and Ramban districts. Additional Indian troops have been deployed in these areas. Jammu Commissioner Ramesh Kumar and Additional Director General of Police Mukesh Singh led a test convoy of 20 vehicles of Indian forces to review the security of the yatra from Jammu to Banihal.
The first convoy of pilgrims will leave for Bhagwati Nagar base camp from Jammu one day before the Yatra and will reach its respective base camps at Pahalgam and Baltil via Jammu-Srinagar highway. An emergency plan has already been drawn up to ensure accommodation of yatris in transit camps in case of road closures. In addition, steps have been taken to clear the landslide debris and reopen the highway. India under Hindutva-inspired Modi, experts believe, gives a special hype to the Amarnath Yatra as part of the BJP government’s conspiracy to dent the outlook of Muslim-dominated Jammu and Kashmir.
