Jammu, June 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):Soon after, New Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal announced that restaurants can open in the national capital with 50% capacity, restaurant owners of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) approached the authorities to let them restart their operations but they were sent back.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a restaurant owner while talking to media said, “COVID-19 cases and the mortality rate has declined during the past few days in Jammu region. We were hoping that the authorities will allow us to restart our activities, but when we approached the officials they told us that we have to wait.”
He said, “If the restaurants can open in the New Delhi, then why can’t these restaurants reopen in the Jammu region which is not as big as Delhi.” Another restaurant owner said, “Thousands of people are dependent upon restaurants for their livelihood, but if we are not allowed to restart our operations, we will be left with no other option other than disengaging our staff.
” He said, “The government needs to pay some attention towards our plight and allow us to open our establishments at least with 50% capacity. It’s unfortunate that no one wants to listen to us. If the restaurants continue to remain closed thousands of people associated with the food industry will lose their jobs.”
He said, “Many of us pay huge amounts as rent and have taken loans from the banks on which we have to pay interest. If our establishments remain closed we may turn bankrupt.” Meanwhile, the government in Punjab has also eased the restrictions and has allowed theaters, restaurants and gymnasiums to open at 50% capacity.
