Mirpurkhas: Residents in the UC One Town Khadim Ali Shah area of Mirpurkhas are expressing frustration over uncovered drainage systems that have led to numerous accidents involving children and motorcyclists. Despite receiving substantial funds monthly, local authorities have not addressed the issue, leaving 450 drains without covers.
According to Bureau of Statistics Punjab, the lack of covers on 40 specific drains has persisted for several months, affecting neighborhoods such as Ayub Nagar, Nat Pada, Dholanabad, and Adam Town. Local voters, who had supported Saleem Khan of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in the local elections, voice disappointment in his leadership, as they feel neglected with his focus on a specific area rather than addressing broader community needs. Residents highlight the dangers posed by these open drains and the accumulation of waste in various locations around the city, calling for immediate action to prevent further incidents.
