Report Highlights Escalating Atrocities by Hindutva BJP Regime in Kashmir

Srinagar, An analytical report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service has accused the Hindutva BJP/RSS regime and their establishment in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) of intensifying atrocities and state terrorism, severely impacting the lives of local residents. The report outlines a series of gross human rights violations, including arbitrary arrests, cordon and search operations, house raids, and the snatching of property, which have become commonplace under the current administration.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the report details a significant increase in the suffering of Kashmiris due to the actions of Indian troops and notorious probe agencies like the National Investigation Agency and State Investigation Agency. It notes that these entities have escalated their campaign of horror and atrocities, adding to the misery of the people already enduring a relentless military and police siege by the government led by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah.

The document further states that since 2015, when the BJP regime assumed control in IIOJK, Indian troops have martyred 2152 Kashmiris, including 305 in extra-judicial circumstances such as custody and fake encounters. It highlights the torture and killing of three innocent Kashmiris in army custody in the Surankote area of Poonch in December 2023 as evidence of India’s continued use of strong-arm tactics to subdue the Kashmiri population.

The report argues that the deliberate and politically motivated violence against Kashmiris by Indian forces constitutes war crimes amidst a rapidly deteriorating political and human rights situation in the territory. It also points out the ongoing arbitrary detentions, the prohibition of public assembly under Section 144, and the illegal detention of hundreds, including minors and women.

Additionally, the report addresses the widespread alienation of the Kashmir Valley and Muslim-dominated areas of the Jammu region from the Hindutva BJP government. It mentions concerns raised by people of other faiths regarding economic losses and the looting of local resources, exacerbated by the imposition of draconian laws related to domicile, delimitation, media, and land rights.

Despite the use of extensive resources to suppress the freedom sentiments of Kashmiris over the past seven decades, the report concludes that India has failed in its efforts, with the local population determined to continue their resistance against illegal occupation.
