Report Alleges Electoral Misconduct Benefiting BJP in 79 Lok Sabha Seats

New Delhi: A recent report has raised allegations of misconduct and manipulation in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, claiming these irregularities favored the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its allies, affecting the outcomes in 79 constituencies across India.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the “Vote for Democracy” (VFD) group’s report titled “The Report: Conduct of Lok Sabha 2024,” calls for an independent investigation to scrutinize these allegations thoroughly. The analysis highlighted an unusual surge in voter turnout that purportedly benefited the incumbent government, impacting the electoral results significantly.

The document criticizes the Election Commission of India (ECI) for its alleged inaction during the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) period and accuses it of bias. The report demands that the ECI explain its actions and address the accusations of gross illegalities and vote manipulation detailed in the findings.

Reacting to the report, the Congress party has labeled the findings as “shocking revelations” that undermine public trust in the democratic process. They have called for accountability from the ECI, stressing that the integrity of Indian democracy could be at stake if the allegations prove accurate.

The report also details specific instances of malpractice, voter suppression, and irregularities on voting and counting days, leading to a formal notice being issued to the ECI demanding answers and accountability for the alleged discrepancies between votes polled and counted.
