Rejection of Shabbir Shah’s bail plea by Delhi court condemned

Islamabad, July 02, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM), Abdul Majeed Mir has strongly condemned the rejection of bail application of illegally detained senior APHC leader, Shabbir Ahmad Shah by a New Delhi court. According to Kashmir Media Service, Abdul Majeed Mir in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the Hurriyat leaders were being subjected to the worst political revenge under false and baseless cases.

He said, India is using its judiciary to continuously detain Hurriyat leaders and activists and subject them to political victimisation. He added that illegally detained Hurriyat leaders, including Shabbir Ahmad Shah, were not being given the right to a fair trial and the Kashmiri people had lost confidence in the Indian judiciary and they had no hope of getting justice from the Indian courts. Abdul Majeed Mir lamented that during illegal detention, Kashmiri political leaders were subjected to the worst form of physical and mental torture while their lives were being risked by depriving them of all basic facilities including medical treatment and proper food.

He said that the authorities were hindering the release of Shabbir Ahmad Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik despite their illness, which was highly condemnable. He added that the Indian rulers were using all cheap tactics to prolong the illegal detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders. He appealed to the United Nations and the international community to increase pressure on India for the immediate release of illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders.
