Islamabad, May 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):Finance Minister Miftah Ismail says the PTI-led government wrote a letter to Russia to sell its oil to Pakistan but the letter was never responded by Russian authorities. In an interview with CNN on Tuesday, he said that Russia has not offered us to purchase any oil and due to sanctions, it is very difficult for Pakistan to buy Russian oil.
He said Islamabad may consider buying Russian oil if it is available at a cheaper rate and secondly if there are no sanctions on Pakistan. He said we have asked Ukraine and Russia to sell us wheat on cheaper rate and we would be happy to buy wheat from them.
The finance Minister said that the former prime Minister is responsible for difficulty in fixing the economy. He said record increase of inflation ratio was witnessed during Imran Khan’s tenure. Miftah Ismail said that he is confident in dealing with International Monitory Fund after reversing energy subsidies.
