Islamabad, March 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar says recent amendments in NAB law are aimed at empowering NAB court to transfer cases to relevant legal forums or investigation for further proceedings for their logical conclusion.
Talking to media in Islamabad on Friday, he said proceedings on over 200 cases had stopped on various reasons, including jurisdiction. He said Article 5 and 6 of the NAB law has been amended and these amendments pertain to jurisdiction issues. He dispelled the impression that amendments in NAB law were brought to favour a particular individual. He said transfer of cases does not mean that the matter is disposed of. He said such cases will continue at other relevant legal and investigation forums.
The Law Minister further said under the amendments now the Acting Chairman NAB, in the absence of chairman, will exercise all powers bestowed on the head of the anti-corruption watchdog.
