Rawalpindi, 10 Oct 2023:A commitment to upgrade and commercialize railway stations, with a particular focus on the Rawalpindi station, was solidified by Railways Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar during a meeting held in Islamabad. The strategic initiative, aimed at substantial revenue augmentation on a large scale, is anticipated to transform railway stations into significant commercial hubs in the forthcoming era, with an expectation of generating substantial revenues for stakeholders. The redevelopment of Rawalpindi Railway Station, specifically, is not only intended to bolster passenger facilitation but is also envisioned to establish it as a lucrative business hub, according to the Minister. Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar underscored the strategic implications of upgrading railway stations while chairing the meeting, which was convened to discuss the up-gradation and commercialization plans of Rawalpindi railway station.
