Rawalakot Seminar Calls for Kashmir Resolution in Accordance with UN Resolutions

Karachi, In a seminar held at Poonch Medical College in Rawalakot, speakers emphasized the need for resolving the Kashmir dispute in line with United Nations resolutions. The event, organized by Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, highlighted the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people and the alleged human rights violations in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the seminar’s speakers condemned the use of military force by the Indian government to suppress the freedom struggle in Kashmir. They criticized the enforcement of laws like the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, and Public Safety Act, alleging that these have led to martyrdoms in fake encounters and wrongful imprisonments.

The speakers accused Indian agencies, influenced by the Indian National Investigation Agency and New Delhi-controlled State Investigation Agency, of occupying Kashmiri lands, demolishing properties, and unjust detentions. They expressed disappointment in the United Nations’ failure to implement its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, despite passing several over the past seven decades.

The seminar called upon the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to intervene and help stop the alleged brutalities in occupied Kashmir. They also urged the government of Azad Kashmir to start an anti-India protest movement in response to the Indian Supreme Court’s recent verdict on Kashmir’s special status.

Additionally, the seminar addressed the issue of Israeli aggression in Palestine, challenging the Muslim Ummah to take an active role in advocating for an independent Palestinian state.

The seminar saw participation from various speakers, including Principal Professor Dr. Chaudhry Muhammad Shabbir, Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, and other esteemed academics and activists. Following the seminar, a symbolic walk was held by professors, students, and staff of the college to support the right to self-determination for the people of Kashmir and Palestine, concluding with prayers for the martyrs of both regions.
