Islamabad, June 19, 2023 (PPI-OT): As the world is observing International Day for Elimination of Sexual Violence, rape is employed as a tool of suppression and way of collective punishment in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The women, girls and children of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have witnessed the most egregious forms of sexual violence of recent times.
According to reports, Indian state machinery has been perpetrating sexual violence with full impunity to silence, subjugate and stifle the people of the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and stop them from demanding their legitimate right to self-determination. Sexual violence against all genders, including children has drastically increased in the valley since 5 August 2019.
All international calls for prosecution of perpetrators have been blatantly rejected by India and there remains a pervasive culture of impunity through connivance between the Indian state machinery, judiciary and the media.
