Rally held in Muzaffarabad to remember Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru

Muzaffarabad, February 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):A rally was held in Muzaffarabad, today, to pay tributes to the prominent martyred Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru on their martyrdom anniversaries. India had hanged Muhammad Maqbool Butt in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail on this day in 1984 and sent Muhammad Afzal Guru to gallows on 9th February in 2013 in the same jail for their leading role in the Kashmiris’ ongoing freedom movement. Their bodies were buried in the premises of the prison.

The participants of the rally marched from Upper Adda Chowk to Lal Chowk in Muzaffarabad, holding banners and placards in their hands and chanting slogans in favour of freedom and against India.

Addressing on the occasion, the speakers said that due to the sacrifices of martyrs like Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru, the Kashmir dispute had become a focus of attention of the world community. The Kashmiris’ spirit for freedom is stronger than all the atrocities of the Indian forces, they added. They said the settlement of the Kashmir dispute under the UN resolutions is essential for the establishment of lasting peace in South Asia.
