Srinagar, As the scheduled parliamentary elections for the Islamabad-Rajouri constituency draw near on May 25, the regions of Rajouri and Poonch are experiencing heightened security measures. These actions have transformed the areas, making them more reminiscent of military zones than electoral venues.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities are conducting widespread surveillance and search operations throughout both districts. In response to the upcoming elections, security protocols have been intensified with additional patrols, checkpoints, and a significant increase in force deployment covering both urban and rural settings. Officials have conveyed that extra companies of paramilitary forces have been stationed to bolster safety. There is a particular focus on securing polling stations and ensuring the protection and unimpeded transit of election staff and voters, underscoring the military-style precision of these preparations. The strategy includes a pronounced expansion of security measures into the hinterlands of Rajouri and Poonch, highlighting the scale of the operation.
