Indore, November 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):Indian National Congress leader Rahul Gandhi received a death threat on Friday before the march being held by the party across India entered the Madhya Pradesh state. A letter threatening that Rahul Gandhi would be killed was found outside a sweet shop in Indore, the capital of the state. The letter says that there will be bomb blasts across Indore, adding that former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath would be shot down and Rahul Gandhi will be killed as soon as he arrives in the city.
“There will be bomb blasts at several places in Indore, Kamal Nath will be shot down and you will be sent where your father Rajiv Gandhi is,” the letter read. Police said that they were scanning CCTV footage of the area to find the person who left the letter. The threat letter comes to fore after Rahul Gandhi targeted rightwing Hindu leader Veer Savarkar saying that he helped the British rulers and wrote a mercy petition to them out of fear. His remarks drew sharp criticism from leaders of Hindutva organizations.
On the other hand, the police in Thane city of Maharashtra have registered a case of defamation against Rahul Gandhi for his remarks against V D Savarkar, an official said. The case was filed based on the complaint lodged by Vandana Dongre, a functionary of the Shiv Sena, he added.
Rahul Gandhi at a press conference in Wadegaon village in Maharashtra state on Thursday stated that Savarkar helped the British rulers and wrote a mercy petition to them out of fear, thereby betraying Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Jawaharlal Nehru and other leaders of the freedom struggle.
