Rahul Gandhi Blasts Modi Government Over Rising Unemployment in India

New Delhi, Rahul Gandhi, a prominent leader of the Congress party, has leveled sharp criticism against the Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the escalating unemployment rates in India. Gandhi accused the administration of deceiving the nation’s youth rather than addressing their employment concerns.

According to Kashmir Media Service, during a rally in Madhya Pradesh as part of his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Gandhi attributed the worsening unemployment scenario to the economic policies implemented by the Modi government. He claimed that India is experiencing its highest unemployment rate in the last 40 years, with figures surpassing those of neighboring countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Bhutan. Gandhi pinpointed the government’s demonetization initiative and the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as critical factors crippling small businesses and exacerbating the unemployment crisis.

Further criticizing the government’s unfulfilled promises, Gandhi highlighted the stark discrepancy between the BJP’s pledge to generate two crore jobs annually and its actual performance. Citing data presented by the government in Parliament, he revealed that out of 78 departments, 64,000 positions remain unfilled. Gandhi questioned the rationale behind the government’s failure to fill more than 30 percent of vacancies in 15 major departments, accusing the BJP of perceiving permanent jobs as a liability and resorting to falsehoods.

Gandhi’s remarks underscore the growing discontent among India’s youth facing job scarcity and call into question the government’s commitment to tackling unemployment.
