Qureshi for Pak-UK collaboration in promoting interfaith dialogue

Islamabad, June 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, highlighting the rising trend of Islamophobia, has underscored the importance of promoting interfaith dialogue and combating defamation of religions. He expressed these views while meeting British Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth, Lord Tariq Mahmood Ahmad in Islamabad.

The Foreign Minister stressed that both Pakistan and UK should collaborate closely for promoting interfaith dialogue and combating Islamophobia. During the meeting, they exchanged views on bilateral matters in diverse areas such as tourism, energy and health and issues of regional and international importance.

On Afghanistan, the Foreign Minister said there is no military solution and that a negotiated peaceful political settlement is essential for durable peace in Afghanistan. He also briefed the British Minister of State for South Asia and the Commonwealth about India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. On the occasion, Lord Tariq Mahmood acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in support of the Afghan peace process.
