Quetta: A significant meeting of the District Health Committee, chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Kakar, was convened to address pressing issues within the local health sector, including staff absenteeism at multiple Basic Health Units (BHUs) and operational challenges at Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting participants included management staff from Mufti Mehmood and Benazir Hospitals, representatives from the Deputy District Health Office, the District Systems Manager, PPHI, and the District Finance Officer. A detailed report on absenteeism among medical and administrative staff across several BHUs, such as BHU Jamia Salafia, BHU Pashtun Bagh, and BHU Pashtunabad, was reviewed during the session.
The committee discussed resolutions for Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital’s issues concerning security, waste management, and electricity. ADC Kakar expressed strong disapproval of the negligence observed in the health sector, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated. He issued a directive for all absent staff to report back within a week with an explanation for their absences. Failure to comply could lead to departmental actions, including potential dismissal as authorized by the District Health Committee.
