Quetta Universities Finance Commission Approves Funding Distribution Formula

Quetta: In a significant move to bolster higher education, the Universities Finance Commission, chaired by the Provincial Minister of Finance and Minerals Mir Shoaib Noshirwani and Co-Chairman Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan, convened a meeting which saw the participation of key educational and financial leaders. The assembly, which included Secretary Higher Education Hafiz Muhammad Tahir, Special Secretary Finance Aurangzeb Kasi, and the vice chancellors from all provincial universities, culminated in the unanimous approval of a new funding distribution formula and operational enhancements for university sub-campuses.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting’s agenda centered on advancing educational standards and expanding resources within the constraints of the current budget. Provincial Minister Noshirwani emphasized the government’s commitment to education, stating that fostering educational excellence and integrating modern scientific disciplines are pivotal for societal advancement. He highlighted the transformative impact of science and information technology on various life aspects, heralding them as catalysts for beneficial revolutionary changes.

During the discussions, all attendees agreed upon the establishment of separate Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) for the sub-campuses of the universities, aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency. Both provincial ministers and participants stressed the need for improving university performance and declared a zero-tolerance policy towards any deficiencies in the educational endeavors for both male and female students.

This meeting marks a positive step towards refining the educational infrastructure and funding mechanisms in the province, which is expected to lead to significant improvements in the academic landscape.
