Quetta Seminar Addresses Urgent Need for Population Control and Reproductive Health Awareness

Quetta: A seminar held at the Quetta Press Club on World Population Day emphasized the critical challenge of Pakistan’s burgeoning population and the pressing need for reproductive health and family planning education. Organized by the Department of Population Welfare, the event featured discussions on utilizing modern medical science and media to address the population crisis while respecting social traditions and religious guidance.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Provincial Secretary Population Welfare Balochistan Abdullah Khan, alongside other key speakers including Ms. Roshan Brocha, DG Population Ghulam Mustafa, and Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan from UNFPA, highlighted the severe implications of rapid population growth on resources and public services like housing, education, and health. They stressed that balancing population and resources is essential for sustainable development and prosperity.

The speakers at the seminar called for a combined effort from government bodies, social organizations, and religious and political groups to spread awareness and educate the public about the importance of family planning and population control. Initiatives to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates and improve economic conditions through education and empowerment of women were also discussed.

Hadiya Nawaz, Parliamentary Secretary for Population Welfare, specifically pointed out the role of parental responsibility in educating children about population dynamics and the critical role of women’s education in population control. Dr. Sarmad Saeed Khan further added that effective population control would facilitate a fair distribution of resources, improving the overall standard of living and ensuring access to basic facilities for all segments of Pakistani society.

The seminar underscored the urgency of taking revolutionary steps to manage population growth, ensuring a healthier and more economically stable future for Pakistan.
