Quetta School Staff Face Salary Stops and Dismissals for Absences

Quetta: In a significant move to address absenteeism among school staff, the District Education Committee of Quetta conducted a review meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Muhammad Anwar Kakar. The meeting highlighted ongoing issues with absent staff members across various schools in the city, leading to decisions on stringent measures including stopping salaries and potential dismissals.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the meeting was attended by key education officials including the District Education Officer and RTCM Officer, as well as DDOs from all Quetta schools and staff from female schools. A comprehensive report was discussed, pinpointing non-teaching and teaching staff absences at numerous institutions such as Government Girls High School Pashtunabad, Gasford Girls High School, and Government Boys High School Railway Colony, among others.

The report outlined the persistent absenteeism of not only teachers but also support staff like watchmen and sweepers. It was revealed that despite previous warnings and the issuance of show-cause notices, absenteeism remained a critical issue. The committee resolved to halt the salaries of those consistently absent and to dismiss those who do not respond to corrective measures.

Further actions discussed included daily reporting by the RTCM to ensure timely interventions against absent staff members. The Additional Deputy Commissioner emphasized the committee’s commitment to enforcing discipline and accountability among school staff to ensure educational standards are not compromised.
