QUETTA: At least 24 people were killed and 62 injured in a devastating blast at the Quetta Railway Station. The incident has prompted widespread condemnation and calls for action against terrorism.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the explosion was identified as a suicide blast. Commissioner Quetta stated that the injured are receiving treatment at CMH and Civil Hospital Quetta. Authorities are actively conducting investigations after collecting evidence from the site.
Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Railways, Aamir Ali Baloch, announced that information regarding the incident can be obtained through the information desk at number 081-9201214 and railway inquiry number 117.
Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani condemned the attack, expressing grief over the loss of lives and urging immediate medical assistance for the injured. He labelled the terrorists as enemies of humanity, reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to eradicating terrorism.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also condemned the explosion, expressing sympathy for the bereaved families and requesting a detailed investigation report from the Balochistan government. He emphasized the government’s resolve to combat terrorism and ensure justice for the victims.
Political figures, religious scholars, and community leaders from across the country voiced strong condemnation of the attack. They called for stringent measures against the perpetrators, emphasizing national unity against terrorism. Notable figures like Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Bishop Azad Marshall, and Sardar Bishan Singh urged for decisive action against those responsible.
