Quetta: On World Polio Day, Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Urban Planning and Chairman of the Quetta Development Authority, Asfandyar Khan Kakar, reaffirmed his commitment to eradicating polio, emphasizing the ongoing risk the virus poses globally, particularly in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Kakar called for comprehensive community support for the upcoming special anti-polio campaign scheduled from October 26 to November 1, aiming to protect children under five from the virus.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, Kakar’s message highlighted the decades-long efforts to combat polio and the urgent need to intensify these efforts as long as the virus persists anywhere in the world. He praised the dedication of frontline workers who continue to face challenges in eradicating polio and urged all sectors of society, including parents, religious leaders, and tribal elders, to support vaccination initiatives. The overarching goal is to ensure no child is left vulnerable to the debilitating effects of polio, underscoring the national duty to participate actively in eradication campaigns.
