Quetta, World Asthma Day was commemorated in Quetta with a series of educational programs and an awareness walk, organized by the Pakistan Chest Society Center and its Balochistan Chapter, highlighting the latest developments in asthma treatment and management.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the day’s main event was a seminar held at the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Chest Diseases, attended by a broad array of medical professionals including doctors, lady doctors, and postgraduate residents. The seminar began with a welcome address by senior pulmonologist Dr. Syed Abdul Waheed Shah, who outlined the goals of the event. Dr. Mahmood Ahmad Shahwani opened the session with a recitation of the Holy Quran.
During the seminar, Dr. Anam, a resident in pulmonology, delivered a crucial research presentation on diagnosing, treating, and preventing asthma. This was followed by a significant update on asthma treatment from Dr. Maqbool Ahmad Longo, General Secretary of the Pakistan Chest Society Center and a senior chest physician, who also discussed the challenges faced in asthma care.
The seminar featured an Asthma Day Quiz for all attendees, particularly aimed at enhancing the knowledge of young doctors and residents. Prizes and shields were distributed by Dr. Shereen Khan, President of the Pakistan Chest Society Center and Chief Executive of the Fatima Jinnah Institute of Chest Diseases, along with other senior members. The event concluded with an awareness walk to further educate the public on asthma management and treatment options.
