Quetta Embarks on Creating Comprehensive Digital Data Bank for Enhanced Governance

Quetta, In a significant step towards establishing good governance through comprehensive planning, Dr. Rababa Khan Bilidi, Adviser to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for the Women Development Department, announced the creation of a digital data bank for all sectors of the province. This initiative, in collaboration with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), aims to collate certified data essential for effective governance and developmental planning.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Balochistan, the announcement was made during a meeting with Kashif Iqbal, Director General of NADRA Balochistan, where they discussed the current challenges in data collection and the benefits of the proposed system. Dr. Bilidi highlighted the lack of a digital database in Balochistan, which hampers the availability of reliable sectoral data for planning purposes.

During the meeting, DG NADRA informed Dr. Bilidi about various initiatives aimed at improving identity card registration in the province. Notably, for the first time, NADRA will waive the fee for first-time ID card applicants. Special registration desks have been set up to facilitate the process for women, transgender individuals, minorities, low-income groups, and people with disabilities. This move is expected to significantly increase the number of women in Balochistan with identity cards, thereby enabling them to access government benefits such as the Benazir Income Support Program.

Further enhancing access, special registration centers will be established specifically for women, and general centers will allocate two days for women instead of one. These measures are part of a broader effort to ensure that all segments of the population can contribute to and benefit from the province’s data-driven development strategies.
