Qatar Science and Technology Park President Meets Pakistan’s IT Minister to Discuss Startup Collaboration


Islamabad: President of Qatar Science and Technology Park, Dr. Jack Lau, met with Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, to discuss collaborations between Pakistani and Qatari entities in the tech sector. The meeting focused on the startup ecosystem and innovation, emphasizing the potential for bilateral exchanges and the development of foundational technologies.



According to Press Information Department, Dr. Jack Lau outlined opportunities for Pakistani startups in Qatar, encouraging them to establish a presence to facilitate expansion and leverage Qatar as a strategic base in the Middle East. He highlighted the participation of various unicorns in Qatar, which are contributing to a vibrant environment for cutting-edge technology development.



Minister Shaza Fatima elaborated on the current government’s efforts to promote entrepreneurship and innovation within Pakistan, noting the Prime Minister’s commitment to tech education and capacity building among the youth. She proposed a startup exchange program between Qatar and Pakistan, supported by Ignite and Qatar Science and Technology Park, to foster mutual learning and growth.



The meeting also discussed potential visits by Pakistani students to the Qatar Science and Technology Park to enhance practical knowledge and exposure. Additional Secretary MoITT, Aisha Humera Moriani, was present at the discussions, underscoring the significance of shared experiences in the tech sector to benefit both nations.
