Karachi, Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar, presided over a crucial meeting focused on the transition of the province’s police stations to the Special Initiative Protocol. This significant move is set to modernize and enhance policing services across Punjab.
According to Punjab Police, the meeting held at the Central Police Office in Lahore reviewed the ongoing process of upgrading police stations to the Special Initiative Protocol, particularly in the provincial capital. The Lahore Police team provided an update on the measures being implemented to modernize the police stations.
Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that the Special Initiative Police Stations, staffed with modern trained and public-friendly personnel, are utilizing modern technology and software to revamp the traditional concept of police stations. He noted that these initiatives are creating a better environment and improved facilities for citizens, which in turn is enhancing the public service delivery process.
IG Punjab directed that the upgrade of police stations to the Special Initiative Protocol should be completed across all districts of the province, including Lahore, within the stipulated timeline. He also announced that the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab will soon formally inaugurate these Special Initiative Police Stations.
The meeting served as a platform to assess the progress made in transferring police stations to this new protocol. The briefing covered the steps taken to upgrade facilities and infrastructure in the police stations of Lahore. Dr. Anwar reviewed reports on the development works in various police stations and plans for constructing new ones.
Key officials, including the Additional IG Punjab, MD Safe City Authority, DIG Operations Lahore, DIG Elite, SSP Operations Lahore, AIG Admin Central Police Office, and other officers, attended the meeting.
