Lahore: The Punjab government is intensifying efforts to regulate flour prices across the province, with strict measures set to be implemented against dealers who fail to adhere to official price listings. This crackdown comes amid a comprehensive inspection of flour dealers and mills by the province’s Food Department.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 06 August 2024, Secretary Food Punjab Moazzam Iqbal Sipra emphasized the mandatory display of price labels on flour bags during inspections that covered 157 shops and 9 flour mills. Flour bags must now be labeled with prices fixed by the government—Rs. 900 for 10 kg and Rs. 1800 for 20 kg—to avoid any discrepancies in pricing at the retail level. Dealers found violating these guidelines will face license cancellation.
The initiative is part of a broader campaign directed by the Chief Minister of Punjab to ensure 100% enforcement of flour prices across the region, with immediate actions mandated against non-compliance to protect consumers from inflated rates.
