Punjab Reports No Casualties Following 5.7 Magnitude Earthquake

Lahore: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has confirmed that there are no casualties or damage following a 5.7 magnitude earthquake that struck across all districts of Punjab. The earthquake’s epicenter was pinpointed near Dera Ghazi Khan in the Shadiwala region with a shallow depth of 10 km.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 11 September 2024, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia stated that despite the widespread impact of the earthquake, there have been no reports of loss of life or significant property damage. Local district administrations, along with rescue and related organizations, have been deployed and are currently operational in the field.

The earthquake was felt in various districts, including Lahore. In response, machinery and personnel have been placed on high alert to manage potential aftershocks. Additionally, District Emergency Operation Centers, as well as the PDMA’s Provincial Control Room, are maintaining a 24/7 state of alertness to provide immediate assistance.
