Punjab Police to Train University Students in Community Policing

Lahore, In a significant collaboration aimed at fostering community policing, professors from Punjab University and the University of Sargodha visited the Central Police Office to meet with IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar.

According to Punjab Police, the visit facilitated discussions on an internship program that would provide training in community policing to students from the two universities. The program is set to include a range of activities such as workshops, seminars, and training sessions designed to enhance public awareness and engagement. Dr. Usman Anwar outlined the plan for Punjab Police officers to impart specialized training to students through the Volunteers in Police and Friends of Police initiatives, which will also feature tours of various operational units within the police force.

The internship initiative aims to offer students hands-on experience in the field, complemented by educational lectures, allowing them to serve as victim support volunteers within social working projects. Dr. Anwar also highlighted the students’ involvement in the Child and Women Protection and anti-narcotics pilot project, where they will contribute as volunteers, gaining intimate knowledge of police operations.

The engagement was lauded by university representatives, acknowledging the IG’s commitment to enhancing community services and fostering a collaborative environment between educational institutions and law enforcement for the betterment of societal welfare.
