Punjab Police to Modernize Prison Transport Vans

Lahore: In an effort to improve the transportation of prisoners for court appearances, the Punjab Police, led by Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has initiated a pilot project to upgrade prison vans with modern safety and comfort features, including GPS and tracking systems.

According to Punjab Police, Dr. Usman Anwar inspected a newly equipped police prison van, marking the commencement of the project aimed at enhancing prisoner transport across the province. Additional IG Logistics and Procurement, Imran Mahmood, provided details on the technological advancements being incorporated into the fleet. The initiative involves fitting all prison vans with the latest technology to secure and monitor transport routes.

The Inspector General directed the preparation of a funding summary for equipping all police prison vans with these modern facilities and announced plans to approach the Home Department for support with the upgrades. DIG Telecommunications, Imran Ahmar, outlined the scope of the project, indicating that the successful implementation in the pilot district would lead to upgrades in other districts.

The event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including AIG Development Sahibzada Bilal Umar and AIG Logistics Syed Karar Hussain, highlighting the high level of priority the Punjab Police places on this modernization effort.
