Lahore, In a concerted effort to improve the effectiveness of criminal investigations, Additional IG Investigation Punjab Muhammad Idrees Ahmad chaired a meeting at the Central Police Office, focusing on the review and advancement of investigation protocols across the province. The session, joined via video link by senior police investigation officers, aimed to enhance the efficiency and outcomes of legal proceedings in various criminal cases.
According to Punjab Police, the meeting entailed a comprehensive review of the progress reports on cases and challans spanning the last decade. Ahmad lauded the investigative units of Attock, Narowal, Gujrat, Bhakkar, Pakpattan, and Chakwal for their timely completion of challans, issuing directives to acknowledge their performance with appreciation certificates. However, concerns were raised about the delays in processing electricity theft cases, prompting calls for improved performance.
Ahmad emphasized the critical need for witness presence in drug-related court cases and urged measures to increase conviction rates for severe crimes. Starting April 15, an audit of Call Detail Records (CDRs) will be initiated across Punjab to bolster the investigation of related phone numbers and ensure comprehensive data analysis. He also highlighted the need for training Public Safety Officers and Senior Superintendents in data compilation to refine CDR investigations further.
The meeting stressed the active involvement of DSPs legal in all districts to escalate the success rate of criminal convictions, aiming to fortify the legal and procedural framework within the Punjab Police investigation units.
