Punjab Police to Accelerate Promotions Across Ranks Amid Recruitment Drive

Lahore: The Punjab Police are set to enhance their ranks with promotions from Constable to Superintendent of Police (SP), addressing 3,500 vacant positions across various units. This move is part of a broader effort to bolster the force’s capabilities and morale, as directed by Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, who has initiated a substantial recruitment and promotion drive.

According to Punjab Police, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has ordered regional and unit heads to convene Promotion Board meetings soon to facilitate this expansive promotion process. Over the past eighteen months, Punjab Police have promoted more than 22,000 officers and personnel, in addition to recruiting over 12,000 constables to strengthen law enforcement and public safety efforts.

The upcoming promotions will include advancing 260 Punjab Highway Patrol employees and 449 Assistant Sub-Inspectors to higher ranks. Dr. Anwar also emphasized the commitment to support the families of police personnel, particularly those of martyrs or those who have died in service, by ensuring the recruitment of their children.

Highlighting the sacrifices of the police force, which include 1,640 martyred and thousands injured in the line of duty, Dr. Anwar affirmed the high morale within the ranks and the essential nature of ongoing promotions and welfare measures to maintain this enthusiasm for public service. The focus remains on merit and seniority to uphold fairness and effectiveness in the promotion process.
